A very important game and a real test of where we're at. If we want to be challenging for top 6, this is the kind of side we need to beat.

Newcastle are rapidly becoming the next media 'darlings' and its getting on my tits as much as the others of the so called 'Big Six'. So to quote a line from McVicar, lets do the Geordie maggots.

I quite like Newcastle pushing out a big 6 team but not big ange! They will be top the weekend, imagine.

Has Antonio done enough in recent games to keep his place?

He is definitely an improvement on last season. Showing allot more glimpses of his glory days where he was unplayable.

The frustration for me is there is a player in there, we all know it and he shows it from time to time. It's almost like he's been holding back?

Overall I'd keep him in the team if fit. I think he'll be up for a game like Newcastle.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Newcastle - Official Match Thread
Can’t argue with that team Mike even if Antonio is fit, bring him on later.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Newcastle - Official Match Thread
If for no other reason, Antonio will want to score to try and one up his podcast mate. This will be a tough game though and a bit of a yardstick to see what's what after the calamity last season. They've become a bit of a bogey team for us. Only one win in the last nine.

As for spurs, they'll come down with a bump sooner or later. The only real 'proper' result they've had is drawing with Arsenal. Beating Man U isn't much cop this season and the only the VAR thing had them beat NINE man Liverpool at home by a single goal.

Drew with Brentford and otherwise they've just beat teams in the bottom three- and barely in Sheff Utd's case. As well as getting knocked out the cup by Fulham.

They've been incredibly fortunate so far and will have played 4 of the bottom 7 after Luton. Emperor's new clothes at the moment. 'Ange mania' won't last all that long and it's far too soon to be heralding him as some sort of genius. People were saying that about Ten Hag last season too.

To be honest, and being proper old skool West Ham, I just want us to hit that 30 point mark as soon as possible, after which we (I) can start to relax.

Don't really care how we get there - just that we do.

This game will, indeed, be a very good indicator of where we are and what we need to do to push on.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Newcastle - Official Match Thread
I quite like the look of Takashi's team, apart from the omission of Aguerd. As for Antonio, TM is clear that he's only leaving him out if he's still injured. But why not start him on the bench anyway, even if he's fit, especially as he's coming back from an injury. Bring him off the bench if needed against tiring defenders. I want to see more of what Kudus can do.

Areola
Coufal Zouma Aguerd Emerson
Alvarez
JWP Soucek Paqueta
Bowen Kudus

Still scarred from last year’s mauling. Anything better will be a result.

Happy to hold my hands up and say, after yesterday’s showing, that Soucek gets picked ahead of Fornals, whose form has deteriorated alarmingly. Also, even with Soucek in the side, we’re seeing Paqueta playing a much more central, forward role. So, if JWP, Bowen and Kudus all start, and Álvarez learns how to stop picking up soft cards, I see a potent side in the field and a cracking game on Sunday.

That's a great front 3 interchanging whenever they like. Geordie maggots won't know what's hit them. Oh, wait, handbrake Dave won't allow that even though its staring him in the face. Imagine Dan Burn trying to keep up with any of those 3. He'd end up with twisted blood

Why don’t you just post your shit about Moyes on the “ Moyes out “ thread?

Save me having to read your shit on here.

Moyes is in a process whereby he’s learning how to use attack-minded flair players worth upward of 80 million pounds transfer fee.

Have you considered how you might support him in this learning process, twoleftfeet?

I love your username by the way.
